Pankration's
Rebirth in North America: A Tribute
Regardless of what the very few who are considered
Pankratiasts out there have achieved, had it not been for
one man and in all honesty, pride for my own works aside,
Pankration would of still been in the closet from a historical
and technical side. The reason today for this great arts
resurection can be singlehandedly acredited to the Father
of Modern Pankration , Kirios Jim Arvanitis.

Undeniably
he woke us all up by bursting out into the martialarts
scene with some unexpected news for most of the then martial
arts community, by proclaining that Pankration was the Father
of ALL martial arts, and said it with pride
too. Soon after a historical brush fire was set and here
we are over 30 years later he is as passionate about it
now as he was when he took on this chalenge all by himself.
Well Jim, you no longer have to carry the burden all alone
anymore, because you have other Spartans (myself) and non-Greek
believers behind you. Jim has been equally fortunate to
have had, and still have with him for the last 32 years
by his side, a very sincere and loyal friend and student
who is his second in command and I am sure more like a brother, Arheegos
Nick Hines, who heads the Spartan Academy in the
New England area. Although the first time I heard about
Pankration it was through a book by Masutatsu Oyama the
Founder of the Kyokushinkaikan Karate system over

years ago, it wasn't until I first saw Jim Arvanitis
inside a Black Belt Magazine issue that influenced
my decision to search for, find out everything i possibly
could about it, and train as close to the methodology by
which my ancestors called Pankration.
The
Spartan Pankration Academy in Laval, Quebec and the Greek
Pankration Confederation of Canada are proud to be Officially
associated with the Father of Modern Pankration, Kirios
Jim Arvanitis , looks forward to
a strong and fruitful relationship with a common goal that
is focused on making Pankration get it due recognition and respect
the world over, and bring Pankratiasts closer together, Greeks
and non-Greeks alike.

Tom Sotis began his relentless pursuit of combative truth over thirty years ago. Working as a criminal investigator and bounty hunter in the early 1980's, experience quickly taught him "Weapons are the way of survival, and the blade rules.” This motivated his serious pursuit into combative methods and edged weapons.

In 1992 Sotis established the International Blade Fighters Guild and founded AMOK!, with knifework becoming his sole occupation since.
Thirteen years and twenty countries later, the names Sotis and AMOK!, are now synonymous with the highest excellence of combative knifework.
Sotis' reputation as one of the finest combat instructors in the world was hard-earned, and he continues training agents and operators in some of the world's most dangerous places.
