F.I.L.A. seminar Huge success
On July 12 and 13 2008 at F.I.L.A. Head quarters in Switzerland was held the first ever Official International Hellanodikai (referee) course and exams for F.I.L.A.'s newest and proud member ,with the goal of Olympic reinstatement, the Pangration Athlima under the W.P.A.C. (World Pangration Athlima Committee). Members Countries under the WPAC came from all over the world with their candidates for this first time ever course that was held in Martigny Switzerland. The course was given by the very charismatic Polinikis Trigazis of the WPAC Hellanodikai committee.
At the end of the course the candidate representatives from the various countries were taken to Corsier Sur Vevey, the Head Quarters of F.I.L.A. where they underwent testing through an exam in which they succeeded in successfully attaining their license and status as International Hellanodikai for Pangration Athlima under the WPAC/FILA.
The new Hellanodikai and their country members representatives under the WPAC were welcomed by the gracious President of F.I.L.A. Mr. Raphael Martinetti and were given a personal tour of the palace in which FILA resides. While the country members , representative and new Hellanodikai were honored by FILA President Raphael Martinetti's presence and hospitality, Mr. Martinetti honored the newly appointed Hellanodikai and their country Representatives for WPAC with a celebration and parting gifts.
The Pankration Confederation Is proud to a part of the FILA family and is excited about the direction which amateur Pankration is headed in and invites all other Martial Arts schools who are into MMA and would be interested in participating in Olympic Pankration....the original Olympic martial art and father to MMA.
A big Thanks to WPAC President Mr. Lazaros Savvidis, who without his administrative expertise and his dream of seeing Pankration reinstated back as an Olympic event, would not have been possible to see Pangration Athlima as a big and proud part of FILA.

Martial Arts & Combat Sports Games of 2010

official member of the Biggest Sports Federations in the Olympics. It was FILA, the governing body for wrestling federations in the Olympic Committee who once again had the opportunity to introduce 3 of its member sports into GAISF's Plans for the 2010 Martial Arts & Combat Sports Games and Pangration Athlima was proudly one of them along with wrestling and Belt Wrestling. The news of this deal between FILA and GAISF came after it was made public by GAISF of their decision for the 2010 games. We are proud once more of this accomplishment by FILA who is anxious to introduce Pankration into the Olympics after over 1800 yrs of exile and proud to be part of this very exciting Olympic movement. GAISF will be making a formal announcement of this new event in the very near future. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
It is important to know that only those federations who are members of FILA/GAISF will have the opportunity to participate in any world and international level Pankration Tournaments that will be under the auspices of these Olympic organizations. All other back yard tournaments which lead nowhere cannot and will not be recognized by these or any internationally recognized federation like FILA and GAISF.

Provincial Representatives Information
Recently Pankration or Pangration Athlima (the sport aspect) the WPAF/WPAC was inducted as an official member into the F.I.L.A. family with the goal of reinstating it as an Olympic event. Due to its growing popularity through the work of the Spartan Pankration Academy / Armak-Pankration, Pankration has become more and more of a demand from people from around the world who practice martial arts and those who are looking to work under one complete system as opposed to jumping from system to system while following the different doctrines of each system.
With the opportunity and dream of Olympic glory closer now than ever before, positions for Provincial Representative are now open to those who can meet a minimal criteria and requirements. The most important criteria is that any individual who is willing to apply for this position must own and operate a martial arts school. All those who are interested in these positions will be considered as candidates and chosen according to their experience.
